He just has squinty eyes, which make him look like he's glaring even when he's not. I do know I would recommend the anime.Įveryone thinks that Takasu Ryuuji is a juvenile delinquent. I am not sure if I would recommend this manga. The art is decent, it had a few hitches and bad spots, but all in all I liked the art. :) I could just hear Kugimiya Rie shout as Taiga. One fun thing though was that I could imagine the characters with their anime voices. Screw it that your secret comes out, screw that.

I really like him, though I wish he would speak up against Taiga and just tell her no. You don't see that often, a guy who stutters or blushes when they get close to their crush.

I really liked how everyone was scared of him, but soon they find out he isn't that bad. He hasn't changed from the anime and he is still himself. Attitude is fun, but Taiga takes it a few notches to far. This is a big reason why I rated the first volume a 3.5. Dare to come close and she will be sure to practically kill you. Everyone has to conform to her and her alone. Her attitude is more of a girl aged 3 or 4, or one that is 10/11. She keeps interfering and being annoying. So our main character isn't allowed any happiness, even though he promised he would keep her secret a secret. :) Either way, I found her actions particularly mean and rude. Or it just has been too long since I last watched the anime. Taiga in the anime was a total bitch, but in this one she is that even more. A lot of the humour is lost (to me) and I don't like Taiga that much. There is a lot of dynamic, lots of action in here, that just doesn't translate well to print. I can honestly say that I like the anime more. I watched the anime many years ago, and I decided to start with the manga. it'll probably be a while before I can read the rest and really make a valid judgement of it. The only problem now is that we only collected the first volumes. But, I think because the comedy was based more on the individual character's personality, and less-so on just the situation, it worked a lot better than similar stories. This is a style of comedy/romance that's very hit-or-miss for me. I know, if I read this on the wrong day, I wouldn't have had such a good experience with it. I think you need to be in the right mood though. I enjoyed this a lot more than I was expecting. But, I think because the comedy was based more on the individual character's personality, and less-so on just the situation, it worked a lot better than I've been sitting on this one for a while. I've been sitting on this one for a while. What's worse, the fierce Taiga happens to live right next door to Ryuuji and is Minori’s best friend! Can this school year possibly get worse?!. But just when he thinks the stars are aligned in his favor, he unwittingly crosses the ultimate mean girl in school, Aisaka Taiga. He gets to sit in between his only friend, Kitamura, and even better, the girl he’s secretly crushing on, Kushieda Minori. It’s Ryuuji’s first day of his junior year in high school and it seems as if things are looking up. Despite his inwardly sweet personality, his naturally sharp gaze and aggressive features give him the air of a delinquent thug, putting his chances at making friends, let alone a girlfriend, next to zero.
